| Anyone wishing to ride a motorcycle
on the road must have a provisional motorcycle licence and complete
a CBT course. Forms to apply for your licence are available
from the post office. A valid licence must be presented for
your CBT, theory test or practical test. For more information

- At 16, upon completion of CBT, you can ride
a moped, which is a machine of not more than 49cc and restricted
to 30mph.
- At 17, upon completion of CBT, you can ride
a motorcycle not exceeding 125cc and a power output not
exceeding 14.6bhp.
- At 17, upon completion of the practical test
you can ride any capacity machine with a power output not
exceeding 33bhp. After 2 years this restriction is automatically
lifted and you have access to any size and power of machine.
- At 21, upon completion of the practical test
you have access to any size or power of machine as long
as you took your test on a motorcycle with a power output
in excess of 46.6bhp.
