| There are several advantages to having a web site
of your own. More people are now turning to the web for
information. Do your competitors have a web site? It is
a cheap source of advertising that is available 24 hours
a day, 365 days a year.
This is completely up to you. You can have photos,
text, pictures, forms, maps, customer testimonials. If you
already have these they can easily be incorporated into
your site. Alternatively I can help with pictures and logos
and design your site from some rough notes.
No problem, you don't need one. Your website will
be hosted by a company with a continual online presence.
I can design the site and upload it to their computers for
you if necessary. Customers won't be able to contact you
by email but you can still have your postal address, telephone
and fax numbers on your site.
The web host is the company that stores your website on
its own computer. The domain name is the unique name of
your website. You can choose a name unique to you as long
as no one else already has it. You should spend some time
thinking of a good name that is easy to remember.
I arrange web hosting and domain names through a third party
at affordable prices.
The cost of designing your website depends on what you would
like to include and how much work you would like me to do.
A simple one page site would cost about £50. Once I know
exactly what you want I can give you a firm quotation. On
top of that you would need to budget about £30 a year for
hosting and domain name. More complex sites will take longer
to write and may need more space to be hosted on, However
the cost of hosting shouldn't exceed about £100 a year.
Compare that to newspaper or magazine advertising.
Again this depends on the complexity of your site but I
would expect to design an average site ready for your approval
in 7 to 10 days. When you approve the site will be published
as soon as your domain name is registered. This should only
take a day or two.
Now all that's left is for you to contact me. If you need
more information email
me and tell me how you'd like to be contacted, email, phone
etc.
